Background

A data center in the U.S.is equipped with multiple standby diesel generator sets to cope with sudden power outages, in order to ensure uninterrupted power supply to data centers. These generator sets require regular maintenance checks, among which oil level monitoring is particularly important. Low oil level may cause engine damage or even shutdown, resulting in serious consequences.Therefore, oil level monitoring and low oil level alarm function is required to prevent generator set damage.

1.Installation location:A reed switch oil level sensor is installed in the oil pan or oil tank of each diesel generator set. According to the design requirements, the installation position, output signal and low liquid level alarm point position are selected.

2.Working principle: the sensor is connected to the reed switch through a magnetic float. As the oil level changes, the float moves up and down, and the built-in magnet changes the magnetic field strength around the reed switch accordingly, thereby controlling the opening and closing of the reed switch contacts.
